8 Blissful Skills to Learn, You Will Thank Yourself for Lifetime.

It's already been a week, you are binge watching netflix, scrolled a 100 km of Instagram, Sleeping and beating yourself in boredom. Right? Yes, your country is in lockdown and you’re not allowed to go out for work and chilling with your friends. Or maybe a member of your family is showing symptoms and, according to your country’s guidance, you have to self-isolate for atleast 14 days.

You are sitting at your home, not physically but mentally grappling with what’s going on around you and the fact that suddenly, your days stretch endlessly before you.

What do you do with all that time you never had before?

Isn't it a perfect time to learn a new skill because some skills don’t take a lot of time to learn. It may take you years to master but to grasp the basics? A month could be enough. Here are 10 blissful skills that you can learn during quarantine and trust me, you will thank yourself later for allowing these skills to make your life much better and easier.

1. Meditation

We’ve all been spending more time at home than ever since COVID-19 broke out, and with that comes a fleet of mental health challenges. Don’t let the additional time we’re spending inside impact your health. Social isolation may increase your risk of receiving many health conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and having a stroke. 

Even further, those who have never had a history of mental health issues in their life are going on to feel these effects. Many are having difficulty sleeping, finding a normal routine, and concentrating on tasks and life management. 

So, instead of joining the queue of mental health problems, you can find a way out by practicing meditation everyday for at-least 30 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes before going to bed. Believe me it works wonders and YES IT'S A SKILL!

2. Learn a New Language

One thing I mentioned in the starting of the post that, these skills will bless you for lifetime. So, here is the one. Many of us always wonder to learn a new language. So, what would you be doing right now if you really wanted to learn a new language?

The key idea here is RIGHT NOW, and the answer is something. Anything. It really doesn't matter what you do, just start, and start now.

3. Enhance your Make-Up Skills

Learning self make up is fun. Instead of joining expensive make-up courses you can learn it yourself. Guess what? You have plenty of time. Make-Up is an art which can be perfect by practicing only. Most of us watch make up tutorials online which seems hell easy but when we try, our liner refuses to go on straight, our bronzer makes us look like an Asian Snookie, or our lashes refuse to curl. That's when we want to toss our makeup bag out the bathroom window. 

So, just relax! take hours to understand. Apply and remove as much as you want until you say WOW! --- A Lifetime skill to own sis.

4. Writing a Journal

Writing a journal will help you not just preserve your memories but will also help you process your feelings about this time that manages to feel simultaneously terrifying and immensely boring. You could also consider making it a gratitude Journal, by thanking universe to keep you and your family safe. Once you practice this skill, you will never stop doing it because it actually feels better to keep track of your thoughts. So just write it up!

5. Cooking

Many people find cooking a creative, stress-releasing activity. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or a novice who is just starting to experiment with new foods, cooking can be an exhilarating experience.

Try to see cooking as a stress-relieving activity instead of something you have to do every day. Take the opportunity to recreate some childhood classics – it might not be exactly like your mom's Pizza, but just picture the satisfaction you’ll feel when you put that first mouthwatering cheese-dripping bite in your mouth.

6. Turn on Your Inner Designer

Maybe you’ve dreamt of being a fashion designer for years. Maybe you have a unique sense of style that the clothes in the department stores and boutiques don’t match. Whatever the reason, if you have the desire, you can make clothes that you’ve designed yourself. So one of the best things you can learn if you want to make clothes of your own design is to learn how to sew. This skill will definitely end up giving a lifelong confidence.

7. Learn Digital Marketing

Marketing is something you can use regardless of your profession, which is why I personally think this is one of the best skills to learn during quarantine.

Even when interviewing for a job, knowledge of marketing principles will stand you in good stead.

I personally recommend focusing on digital marketing because that particular skill, like IT skills, is rapidly becoming in demand. And not very many people have it.

8. Improve Your Communication Skills

Possessing strong communication skills will help you in every phase of your life. This is especially true in the workplace.

I have personally worked with several leaders who were masters of communication. A few were wonderful speakers who could tell a great story and get everyone in the room engaged. You have plenty of time to enhance this one of the most powerful skill. Take online free courses or just simply talk to your friends on different topics. You have thousands of ways to enhance this skill, it just depends on how badly you want it.
